Heath Hill Sunday side began the season in style with a fantastic 4-2 victory over Beeston.Biz Reserves. It was the teams first competitive game and credit goes to everyone who played.
The game was won in the first half with two goals from Serrokh and a cracker from debutante Joe. Heath Hill created chance after chance as the midfield and forwards knocked the ball around with ease. Tassa was brilliant as were the new guys Matt, Ugiagbe and Joe. Montano won everything in midfield and the defence of J.MacDonald Crowther, Anderson and Stevenson were rock solid.
Beeston did have one chance before the break to pull one back but they were thwarted by a fine block from the Heath Hill keeper.
Half time came and Heath Hill led by 3-0, Parry was introduced to replace Ugiagbe who had given his all on his debut. Unfortunately with the game looking won Heath Hill took their foot off the pedal and Beeston were thrown a lifeline when they scored from an angled shot.
It was disappointing to concede a goal and a warning that nothing should be taken for granted in Football.
However Heath Hill responded immediately, Parry played in a quality ball for Tassa who finally got the goal he deserved as he won a battle to the ball ahead of the on coming keeper. 4-1 Another debutante Paul was introduced and he also played his part in the victory with a solid performance at left midfield.
Beeston added a second as the game drew to a close but nothing could dampen the spirit in the Heath Hill camp. It was a well deserved victory today full of excellent performances. Stevenson walked away with Man of the match after an outstanding performance at left back. The team gelled early and the signs are positive for a successful season.
With so many of the squad unavailable this weekend through holidays etc It was rewarding to see the commitment shown by the players who also played yesterday. It was also rewarding to see such good performances from the new guys.
