Heath Hill 4-5 East Leake Bantams

Back

Heath Hill had a depleted squad today with various people away or injured. Never the less, playing with 3 injured players on the pitch and a late signing the team started the match looking to give it their all.

It started well with attacks from both teams, although Heath Hill seemed the most likely to score with some great play from Parry and creative play from the midfield. 15 minutes in the 1st goal came against the run of play where a scrambled ball couldn’t get cleared from the area and the East Leake player snuck the ball in between the defence and the keeper. 1 - 0. The second came shortly after when Heath Hill took too long to mark their men from a corner and the East Leake player found an easy header into the back of the net. 2 - 0.

Heath Hill kept battling and from the defence and midfield. Ugiagbie won the ball from the East Leake winger and held of 2 players to play a great ball into Tonks, Tonks then got the assist for Heath Hills first with a fine ball through to Parry, who took it around the keeper and calmly finished to continue his scoring ways. 2 - 1.

East Leake kept putting on the pressure and when given too much time and space with the ball, the East Leake player from 20 yards out hit a banger of a shot into the top corner. Davey got his hand to the ball but couldn’t do enough to keep the ball from going in.

Half time came with East Leake up 3 - 1.

Heath Hill players came out 2nd half knowing they had made a few errors but were unfortunate to be in the position they were. Therefore still confident they shook off the niggles and knocks and continued to play their football. Some more good play came from both teams but it just wasn’t falling right for the yellows. Then another good strike from East Leake saw them climb to a 4-1 lead.

Sub: Tassa for Tonks

Heath Hill continued to play, they did not get deterred by the score instead they showed great commitment and team play and pulled it back to 4 - 4. Three fantastic finishes, the first from Parry to make it his second of the game, followed by persistence from Tassa and the equaliser coming from a tight angle by Gothard.

The game took a turn for the worse when players got heated. Unnecessary actions from a Heath Hill player and various East Leake players caused the game to halt. On the restart of play with only 4mins to go the away team took advantage a throw in from a dangerous spot and made it 5 - 4. Heath hill were still frustrated with what had just happened as they came to play football, not to lash out at players for no reason but had switched off at a crucial time. Game finished 5 - 4.

Credit to all that played today for showing belief and spirit. Some excellent work rates and persistence nearly paid off.
