OFFICIAL WEBSITE
Heath Hill were knocked out of the League Cup in a game which was a credit to the league and all involved. The official was first class and the opposition first class too.
Bridgford gained the upper hand early on with as strike after about 10 minutes. Shortly after Davey at centre back was injured the decision was made to try and run the injury off. Moments later the Bridgford strker got the better of him on the Bridgford left wing and curled a shot over MacDonald and into the top corner. 2-0.
Heath Hill then decided to accidentally take each other out. Sparkes collided with his own keeper and D.MacDonald was forced to leave the field with a neck injury. (The injured Davey taking his place in goal). Featherstone came on in central midfield for his debut. Then, R.Crowther and J.MacDonald collided with each othe, causing more concern.
As the half progressed Heath Hill started to claw their way back into the game but Bridgford continued to dominate.
At the break Heath Hill went 5-4-1 in an attempt to steady the steady the ship, the plan backfired and Brigford gained more possession and scored two quick goals, 4-0.
Halder and Ugiagbe came on as subs and Heath Hill went back to 4-4-2. The pair added fresh legs and allowed Heath Hill to apply more pressure but Bridgford added a fifth on the break and the game looked dead at 5-0
Not so though, Featherstone stormed through the Bridgford defence to pull one back and Tonks got on the end of an Ugiagbe shot to make it 5-2
No one can deny that Bridgford were not well worth their victory but Heath Hill deserve their credit for their part in the game. Chances were created throughout, Parry had decent free kick brilliantly tipped over, Sparkes had a free kick cleared off the line and the effort especially at the end was fantastic.
With the fighting the spirit shown today we have shown we are ready for the battle ahead and shown that we can compete at this level. We are not far from the first league win! Bring On Strelley!
